Reiki (ray-key) is a Japanese word for Universal Life Force Energy. It describes an ancient traditional Japanese energy healing technique that is used to bring about whole-body healing through the restoration of a balanced energy flow through the body.
An increasingly busy, modern world can place enormous demands upon us individually as we juggle a multitude of different tasks and commitments daily. These demands can impact our wellbeing in many different ways. Reiki treats the whole body, helping to bring balance on physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels. It is a safe and gentle energy treatment that is effective on its own or also alongside any traditional medical or complementary treatments you may be receiving.
Reiki is open to any belief system and a treatment can bring about a sense of deep relaxation, restoration of a sense of calm and improved wellbeing, encouraging the body to commence the process of restoring and healing itself.
Reiki will work whether you believe in it or not. Attending a treatment with an open mind and a desire to receive the healing is sufficient for the healing to be effective.
Ruth Cadman delivers Usui Reiki, a traditional form of Reiki healing founded by Dr Mikao Usui in the early 20th century, and this healing can be experienced either 'hands on' or by distance (remote) healing.
Hands on treatments are delivered at Little Grove in Bacton where you will lie on a couch (ideally) or sit in a chair if you are not able to lie down. You should let us know if you have any mobility issues that will make lying down or climbing onto a couch difficult for you, when you book your session.
You remain fully clothed during the treatment and there will be time to answer any questions that you may have prior to the treatment commencing.
Prior to your initial session, we will send to you a questionnaire that will allow us to prepare for your session to best meet your individual requirements. Your initial session will also include an initial consultation with Ruth to allow a better understanding of your circumstances so that she may better facilitate your healing session.
Any information provided to Ruth through your questionnaire and during your treatment sessions is always held in the strictest confidence and in accordance with UK Data Protection legislation.
As the treatment commences, Ruth will talk you through a grounding exercise before progressing into the healing session. Energy healing is then delivered through the light placement of hands onto your body in different positions depending upon your individual need. Each hand placement is held for several minutes.
Every person is unique and, as such, you will experience the Reiki treatment in your own unique way. Some people will simply feel a deep sense of relaxation and some may fall asleep. Others may feel nothing at all, but some people can have experiences such as a change in body temperature, muscle twitching, tingling, a feeling of pulling inside the body, gurgling stomach or heightened emotions. It is also very usual to feel the warmth of the energy transfer from Ruth's hands and sensations of being touched in different areas of your body at the same time. However, the Reiki energy healing will work regardless of whether you feel any sensations or not and your experience may differ from one treatment session to the next.
Even a little Reiki can help you by supplying vital energy to assist the body to heal itself, however, typically Reiki sessions take between 30 minutes to one hour to allow for a more complete treatment across all of the key energy centres in the body.
Treatment is carried out without dialogue so that you can completely relax. You can expect the room to have low lighting, relaxing music and, if you are agreeable, essential oils to help to bring about a sense of peace and calm.
Such is the relaxing nature of a Reiki healing session, it can be quite usual for the person receiving the treatment to fall asleep or to enter a deep sense of relaxation. Therefore, at the end of the session, Ruth will gently awaken you by touching your shoulders and by asking you to bring small movements back into your hands and feet.
You will be given time to fully awaken before stepping down from the treatment couch and being provided with some water to drink.
After fully awakening, there is no restriction on usual daily activities such as driving, however you will be encouraged to drink water to support the natural healing and cleansing process and to release any toxins that may have been released into the body during the healing treatment.
The amount and frequency of Reiki treatments is entirely up to you and there will never be pressure to book further treatment sessions. Even just one session of Reiki is enough to start a healing process.
However, during your initial consultation, Ruth will work with you to create a recommended treatment plan based upon your own unique situation and you may choose to follow this plan if you wish to do so or alternatively just attend for Reiki as you feel you need to.
Unless advised differently on your plan due to a particular need, Ruth would not recommend more than one Reiki healing session per week as your body will need time between sessions to process and integrate the energy healing that has been delivered. Reiki energy can continue to integrate for a period of time after the session has ended. This can be hours or even days of integration during which time you could feel lighter, more tired or even emotional.
Initial treatment session is £50 to include additional time for a full initial consultation. Allow up to 90 minutes for this session.
60 minute session £45
30 minute session £30
